2025 Cultural Heritage Tourism & Communication Summer Program
The present era, featuring global civilization exchanges and collaborative heritage preservation, has called for Youth participation in heritage practice. UNESCO has identified the revitalization of heritage as an important pathway for sustainable development, and the Chinese government also emphasizes the innovative inheritance and dissemination of cultural heritage. To encourage international cultural heritage research and build cross-cultural collaboration capabilities, the School of Tourism at Sun Yat-sen University will hold the Culture and Heritage International Summer Program from July 7 to July 20, 2025.
This program focuses on various fields including heritage tourism, heritage protection, heritage revitalization, and the communication of cultural heritage. The program features lectures, workshops,brain-stormingdiscussions, and fieldwork in the Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yungang Grottoes. The program aims to create a platform for youth, both domestic and international, to inspire innovation, cultivate academic insight, and foster practical skills, as well as a sense of responsibility for humanity.

II. Applicant Qualifications
The program is open to current postgraduate students and senior undergraduates (enrolled in 2023 or earlier) in cultural heritage-related disciplines worldwide. This includes an academic background
in heritage studies, tourism management, event management, communication, etc. To ensure the best learning efficacy, the program anticipates admitting approximately 30participants.

V. Program Application Procedure and Deadline

4. Application Materials:

Culture and Heritage International Summer Program Application Form;
(2) A scanned copy of passport (a full scanned copy of the personal info page);
(3) A scanned copy of student ID card;
(4) A scanned copy of the academic transcript;
(5)Certification Materials of Language Proficiency (scanned copies of CET4/CET6 scores for Chinese students, TOEFL scores, GRE scores, IELTS scores, etc. International students are required to submit Chinese proficiency certification materials, such as HSK certificates)
(6) A scanned copy of representative academic output is highly recommended, including but not limited to peer-reviewed articles, participation in heritage practice, and award certificates. If the output involves third-party contributions, please indicate individual credits through extra articulation.
(7) All materials should be compiled into a single PDF file in the above order and sent as an attachment to the application email, with the same name as the subject of the email.
Note: Applicants are responsible for the authenticity of the materials provided. Those who provide false materials will be disqualified.
VI. Other Matte
1.Tuition fees are waived for the summer program.
During the summer program, the host organizations will provide accommodation, food, and cover transportation fees for officially organized group activities during the training period (from registration to the completion ceremony). Participants are responsible for 1) traveling expenses to the gathering location, 2) traveling expenses leaving the final location, 3) insurance, and 4) other expenses beyond the program schedule.
2. The list of selected students will be announced in mid-June 2025 on the websites of the School of Tourism, Sun Yat-sen University (https://stm.sysu.edu.cn/) under the "Notices" section. Further notice will not be given to those who are not selected.
3. Participants are required to observe organizational discipline and comply with the relevant rules and regulations of Sun Yat-sen University during the summer program.
4. A certificate will be given to participants who complete all required components.
